Stanley Cup
In my purist hockey mind, a rather unlikely, but nonetheless, deserving Carolina Hurricanes team won the Stanley Cup this week, beating the Edmonton Oilers in 7 games. It was a great sight to see Hurricanes captain Rod Brind'amour, one of the coolest players in the NHL, lift the Cup!
It's funny, because the last time I was overseas, (back in 2002 when I lived in Australia) the Carolina Hurricanes made it to the Cup finals, defeating my Toronto Maple Leafs in the semi-finals. I'm thinking that I'm going to write Carolina's General Manager Jim Rutherford and ask him to finance my life living overseas so that the Hurricanes can make it to the final every year.
Also, congrats to the Miami Heat who won the NBA championship. It's great that Alonzo Mourning and Gary Payton could win titles before they retire.
